CRANSTON, RI — The Bread Bakers Guild of America (BBGA) has a packed lineup of upcoming events in store for bakers across the country. From in-person field trips to virtual webinars, the association is prepping Guild members for success this Q4.

From Seed to Slice: Ohio Field Trip
Aug. 24 | 9:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Ohio offers a compelling example of how farmers, millers and bakers can work together to build a thriving regional grain economy. This day-long field trip through Southwest Ohio explores that ecosystem firsthand, beginning at Good Hands Bread Co. in Dayton.
BagelUp Industry Pro Tour and Class
Sept. 8 | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Guided by Sam Silverman, founder of BagelUp, this program takes attendees to iconic bagel shops in Brooklyn to learn more about the history, cultural significance, and lasting appeal of bagels, and what it takes to thrive in today’s market.
The day concludes with a hands-on class at Bagel Market, led by award-winning baker Reva Castillenti. Attendees will learn how to refine their bagel-making skills by comparing dough formulas, mastering the rope-and-loop shaping method and picking up pro tips.
Building a Packaged Food Brand: An Introduction to CPG
Sept. 28 | 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Led by Laurie Ellen Pellicano, founder of small-batch shortbread and savory snacks brand Laurie Ellen, the webinar will feature key insights into developing a packaged product for the consumer marketplace; navigating labeling, packaging and regulatory requirements; evaluating alternative sales channels such as direct-to-consumer and wholesale; and understanding production choices for scaling a small-batch business.
Pellicano will speak on her background in high-volume bakery production, food styling and recipe development, and the key decisions involved in developing a market-ready product, building a recognizable brand and choosing the right path to market.
