ROCKVILLE, MD — Sunflower Bakery, known for its inclusive hiring model and custom lineup of baked sweet treats, is ushering in the next chapter of its growth with a name change. It is now operating as Sunflower Bakery Kitchen Cafe.
The rebrand reflects the bakery’s vision for the future and its evolution into a broader enterprise and highlights Sunflower’s savory breakfast and lunch options, along with catering platters of hot foods for dinner.
Since 2009, Sunflower has created pathways to employment in the hospitality industry for teens and young adults with learning differences.
“We have served 710 individuals and worked with more than 100 employer partners who believe in the value and potential of an inclusive workforce,” the bakery said via LinkedIn. “Our evolution reflects what we have learned over the years: When people are given the right training, support and opportunity, they can contribute in meaningful ways and build successful careers.”
In celebration of the new name, Sunflower will host a ribbon-cutting event Oct. 16 that will feature speeches, light bites and tours of the training facility.
