CRANSTON, RI — After a three-year hiatus, Camp Bread, an industry event hosted by The Bread Bakers Guild of America (BBGA), will return next year. The three-day, members-only event is set for March 9-11, 2027, at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.

“Bringing Camp Bread back in 2027 feels like the right next step,” said Wai Chu, BBGA’s education and events manager. “Our virtual classes have been a great way to connect bakers — and we’ll still offer them — but there’s something special about in-person learning that is irreplaceable. Camp Bread gives bakers the chance to roll up their sleeves, get their hands in the dough and ask questions in the moment. Just as important are the conversations that happen over meals, between sessions and during the Guildhall Gathering.”

Planning is still underway, and Chu said participants can anticipate the same high-caliber, hands-on baking sessions, business-focused classes and opportunities to connect with peers. The Guildhall Gathering and Sponsor Showcase will also return, along with many familiar instructors.

“One new feature will be a keynote session,” Chu added. “Having all our campers together for a shared conversation is a natural addition to the experience.”

Peer-to-peer learning is a cornerstone of the event, with bakers sharing their experiences with opening bakeries, managing teams and navigating untimely production challenges.

“Our members are generous with their knowledge and are always willing to share what they’ve learned along the way,” Chu added. “We hope people leave with practical skills they can put to work right away, new ideas to take back to their bakeries, and new relationships that continue long after camp is over.”

Registration for Camp Bread 2027 will open in the fall. Visit the Camp Bread webpage for the latest updates.
