AUSTIN, TX — Sprinkles’ latest collaboration draws inspiration from Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights.
The bakery brand created the Luscious Mango cupcake in partnership with Padma Lakshmi, an Indian-American television host, model and philanthropist.
“Diwali is celebrated by over 1 billion people worldwide,” Padma said. “It’s inspiring to see Sprinkles acknowledging this festival on their national platform. The Mango Lassi flavor brings to life memories from South Asia, featuring the vibrant taste of fresh mango curd and the sweet aroma of cardamom and cinnamon. I’m excited for everyone to share a very special piece of my heritage.”
The Luscious Mango cupcake — which includes a mango cake piped with a creamy mango curd center and topped with a cinnamon and cardamom-spiced yogurt frosting — draws inspiration from Mango Lassi, a popular yogurt-based drink found in India.
In addition to the limited-time product, Sprinkles will also be donating to the Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project, a charity that aims to break the generational cycle of poverty in India by providing education from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. This collaboration also continues the bakery brand’s continued support of Gold House, a leading Asian Pacific changemaker organization.
The cupcakes will be available for pick up or local delivery at Sprinkles bakeries nationwide for $6 each until Nov. 22.
Sprinkles previously collaborated with Avocados from Mexico on a Chocolate Dulce De Leche cupcake for National Avocado Day.
