BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Thirty years in business later, Levain Bakery’s growth trajectory furthers with the addition of its 18th brick-and-mortar shop.

The New York bakery brand held the grand opening for its Beverly Hills, CA, storefront on Aug. 8, marking its third in the Los Angeles area.

“When we opened our first bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan 30 years ago, we never imagined that someday we’d be baking in Beverly Hills,” said Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, Levain’s co-founders. “We’re thrilled to be part of this wonderful neighborhood, and have been overwhelmed by everyone stopping by to say hello and share their Levain story.”

In addition to offering a custom tote with bakery swag to the first 100 customers, Levain also marked the occasion with a new limited-edition cookie flavor. Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Chip pays tribute to the bakery’s original Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip Cookie and is only available for one month at the new location.

All opening day proceeds supported Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles, a community-run kitchen whose volunteers prepare and deliver meals to LA residents facing food insecurity.

Moving forward, the bakery will also donate any unsold baked goods to Food Cycle LA. The organization supports food-insecure households and houseless individuals by intercepting surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants and offices.

“Levain has always been incredibly grateful for the support of the communities we’re a part of, and we strive to reciprocate that support in ways big and small,” the company said in a statement. “On opening day, our new bakeries donate all proceeds to a local charity organization, and at the end of every day thereafter, we donate all unsold baked goods. It brings us great pride to think of all the people who’ve been treated to a fresh cookie, a delicious bread roll, or a flavorful muffin in the midst of a challenging day. We’re incredibly grateful to Food Cycle LA for helping us make this happen.”

This new location follows the opening Levain’s first location in Philadelphia last fall.
