JACKSON, MI — Dawn Foods, a global manufacturer and distributor of bakery ingredients, expanded its Dawn Exceptional line of ready-to-use buttercreme icings.
Following the company’s release of a chocolate variety of its European Style White Buttercreme icing earlier this year, Dawn Foods has introduced 13 new colorful icings, providing bakers with an assortment of choices to create visually appealing treats.
According to Dawn Foods’ proprietary “Attitude and Usage” study, buttercreme-style frosting remains the most popular frosting type among consumers, with 79% indicating they would purchase a cake with it.
The new icing is crafted with fondant to ensure a smooth texture and features real butter with a made-from-scratch taste, natural flavors and a hint of salt.
“Our new European Style White Buttercreme gives bakers of all types another easy way to offer a premium bakery item for their customers who are looking for an indulgent experience,” said Sarah Hickey, VP of marketing at Dawn Foods.
A 2024 study conducted by FMCG Gurus also found that 56% of consumers enjoy food with bright and intense colors, and a study from Sensient Food Colors reported that consumers believe products with more vibrant colors taste better and offer more flavor. The new Dawn Exceptional Colorful Buttercreme Style Icings capitalize on this opportunity, touting color stability from scratch to table.
The new buttercremes boast a 150-day shelf life. The icings feature a creamy vanilla flavor and are formulated to be pliable for easy piping and decorating and are firm enough to hold intricate designs.
