CHICAGO — In the bakery brand’s latest collaboration, Milk Bar has teamed up with Portillo’s, a fast-casual restaurant known for its Chicago-style street food, to create a limited-edition Chocolate Cake Cookie.

The soft-baked cookie combines the restaurant’s classic chocolate cake with swirls, pops and chunks of Portillo’s iconic fudge frosting, all baked into Milk Bar’s chocolate cookie.

“Famous for very good reason, there is perhaps no greater restaurant dessert idol than Portillo’s Chocolate Cake — plump, rich, soft, understated yet an absolute home run,” said Christina Tosi, co-founder of Milk Bar. “It is one of the coolest moments of our careers to bake a love letter to this icon through the lens of a Milk Bar Cookie — dense and fudgy, yet cakey with pops of chocolate frosting drops.”

The Portillo’s Chocolate Cake Cookie is individually wrapped and available for purchase at all Portillo’s restaurants with dining rooms for a limited time. Additionally, a 6-count cookie tin with the special product will be available for nationwide shipping on the Milk Bar website.

“Portillo’s world-famous, homemade chocolate cake is iconic,” said Garrett Kern, Portillo’s VP of strategy and culinary. “This delicious dessert has been a staple on our menu for decades, and when we were given the chance to collaborate with the fantastic Christina Tosi and Milk Bar, we knew we had the ultimate opportunity to transform our fan-favorite cake into hand-held treats Portillo’s, Milk Bar and chocolate lovers everywhere could enjoy.”

Earlier this year, Milk Bar indulged chocolate lovers with the release of its Double Chocolate Chip Super Crunchy Cookie flavor.
