LAS VEGAS — There’s a new competition joining the lineup at this year’s International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE).
Alongside the World Bread Awards and Pillsbury’s Creative Cake Decorating Competition, bakers will have a chance to put their best foot forward in the Panettone World Cup competition, to be held in the West Hall on Sept. 16.
Hosted in partnership with Coppa del Mondo del Panettone, this debut event at the Baking Expo is open to pastry chefs from North, Central and South America excluding Peru and Brazil, which have their own competitions.
Up to 30 entrants can submit either a traditional or chocolate panettone to be evaluated by an experienced panel of judges on the external appearance; internal texture and color; fruit quantity and distribution; softness, palatability and meltability; aroma; taste and aromaticity.
Entrants must be at least 18 years old with a valid VAT number representing pastry shops, bakeries and ice cream parlors. Only one person per company is allowed to compete. The winning participant will represent their country in the 2026 world final.
IBIE registration is required to enter the competition. For more information and to apply, visit the IBIE website.
