MINNEAPOLIS — General Mills Foodservice is accepting submissions for the Biskies Recipe Contest, a challenge that prompts operators to create an original recipe featuring any Pillsbury biscuit product for the chance to win thousands in cash prices.
Through March 31, commercial restaurant chefs, owners and employees can submit original recipes featuring a Pillsbury biscuit and two or more ingredients to the contest’s website, Instagram and Facebook. The grand prize winner will receive $20,000 and three runner-up winners will be chosen in three categories — appetizer, entree and dessert — and receive $5,000 each.
“The Biskies Recipe Contest celebrates restaurants and their best biscuit creations whether they play the leading role as an entree, are part of a supporting cast as an appetizer or dazzle as the grand finale as a dessert,” said Chef Jessie Kordosky, a Chefs of the Mills member and one of the judges for this year’s contest. “We can’t wait to see how restaurants showcase their creativity for biscuits that deliver a stand-out performance on their menus.”
Venee Pawlowski, owner of Black Magnolia Southern Patisserie in Greensboro, NC, was the inaugural winner of the Biskies contest last year. Her entry, the Upside-Down Apple Praline Biscuit, drew inspiration from a classic tarte tatin and featured ingredients such as brown sugar-roasted apples and bourbon buttermilk sweet biscuit ice cream.
“It’s always thrilling for us to see how our biscuit products come to life on menus,” Kordosky said. “We hope the Biskies encourage restaurant professionals to experiment with Pillsbury biscuits, which provide a low-labor way to serve great-tasting biscuits that bake up beautifully every time and serve as the foundation for a number of unique menu items.”
Entries will be evaluated by the Chefs of the Mills. Once finalists are selected, the public can vote to determine the final winners in April on General Mills Foodservices’ website and social media channels. The winner will be announced around May 17.
