CRANSTON, RI — In the aftermath of the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, the Bread Bakers Guild of America (BBGA) reached out to its members to offer support to bakeries impacted by the storm.
“The Bread Bakers Guild of America is committed to helping, and we encourage both members and nonmembers to come together in solidarity during this challenging time,” said Arielle Stevenson, communications coordinator of BBGA.
The association asked that bakers directly impacted by Helene reach out for support. BBGA also shared several disaster relief sources:
- Southern Smoke Foundation: This nonprofit organization, founded by current and former food and beverage workers, offers emergency financial assistance to food and beverage workers impacted by disasters. Southern Smoke can provide immediate support for bakery owners or employees affected by the storm.
- FEMA Disaster Assistance: The resource, backed by FEMA, is designed to improve survivor access to disaster relief information and make it simpler for individuals and businesses affected by natural disasters to apply for assistance.
- Red Cross Business Recovery Assistance: The Red Cross’ resources include support for small businesses.
BBGA will continue to monitor the situation and share additional resources to support the baking community. The association urges those with questions, updates or requests for help to contact BBGA at info@bbga.org.
