CHICAGO — The third annual America’s Greatest Donuts Contest, hosted by the Underground Donut Tour, is underway. Through March 10, donut aficionados nationwide can nominate their favorite donuts and donut shops.
From those initial nominations, the Underground Donut Tour will compile a “best of” list featuring popular categories such as Best Cake, Best Croissant, Best Chocolate and more. Those lists will be put up for a vote between March 26 and April 15, and America’s Greatest Donut winners be announced on May 18, just ahead of National Donut Day on June 7.
The donut shop that receives the most votes will receive a $500 prize and recognition as America’s Greatest Donut: Fan Favorite. Plus, five participants from across America will be selected to attend the Underground Donut Tour for free in any of the available cities.
In 2023, Rise’n Roll Bakery was voted overall fan favorite in the Underground Donut Tour’s America’s Greatest Donuts contest. Other past winners include Dahlia Bakery, Donut King, D&D’s, Stan’s Donuts, Kane’s Donuts, Café Du Monde, Five Daughters Bakery, Duck Donuts, Peter Pan, Union Square, and Voodoo Donuts.
