LAS VEGAS — The International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE), owned by the American Bakers Association and BEMA and supported by Retail Bakers of America (RBA), may be months away, but cake experts attending the show can apply now for the chance to showcase their skills in the Creative Cake Decorating Competition, powered by Pillsbury.
The two-day decorating showdown, held in the Baking Expo’s Retail Bakers Center in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, is one of the show features designed with retail bakers in mind. Six pairs of cake decorating professionals will face off in four categories: wedding cake, rolled fondant, buttercream and sculpted cake.
Throughout the competition, IBIE attendees will be able to catch a glimpse of the action, see celebrity and master baker judges and hear live commentary with expert perspectives.
The highest-scoring team, as selected by a panel of judges, will win the Pillsbury Bakers’ Plus Grand Champion Trophy, which will be presented at the awards ceremony on Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. In addition to the grand prize, gold, silver and bronze medals and cash prizes will be awarded for the highest score in each category.
The deadline for application is May 31, and qualifiers for the competition will be notified by June 20. Visit the Baking Expo website for more information on the competition.
