SAN FRANCISCO — Pinterest has released its Summer 2024 Trend Report, highlighting the ways popular fads and trendy aesthetics influence various industries.
Under its section centered on food and beverage, Pinterest identified a few trends based on user traffic that bakers can pull inspiration from when creating summer offerings that appeal to consumer interests.
Fruit reimagined
This trend nods to increasing interest in healthy summer staples such as mango and avocado. For example, searches for “mango crepe recipes” surged 180%. Queries for “fun things to cook” and “summer special recipes” saw increases of 1,060% and 135%, respectively, placing mangos as a top searched-for ingredient.
Up by 120%, consumers searched for “new ways to eat avocado.” Among five other food categories, avocado bread was the No. 1 result, with a search increase of 360%.
The sourdough moment
As consumers look for ways to reinvent sourdough recipes, sourdough bagels top the list with a 300% increase, quickly followed by chocolate sourdough at 270%. The remaining three categories — sourdough tortillas, sourdough croutons and cinnamon raisin sourdough bread — each saw a 200% jump in searches.
