NEW YORK CITY — WildBrain, the parent company of the Strawberry Shortcake brand, is marking the beloved character’s 45th anniversary with collaborations with bakers along with other creators.
“Strawberry Shortcake’s pop culture appeal and enduring legacy make her one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the world,” said Melissa Goodrich, director of franchise strategy at WildBrain. “We’re excited to tap into those feelings of nostalgia with classic Strawberry Shortcake and also surprise fans with fun ways they can celebrate the World of Strawberry Shortcake with us.”
At Flour Shop in New York City, Strawberry Shortcake has taken over the flagship store until Feb. 27. Inside the store, customers can find Strawberry Shortcake sweets and decorations inspired by the character. The first 50 people to visit the NYC shop each day through the end date of the pop-up will receive a free Strawberry Shortcake treat. Amirah Kassem, Flour Shop’s founder, also announced a cookie decorating kit inspired by the children’s character complete with cookies, frosting and sprinkles.
Toronto baker Namaya Navaratnarajah, founder of CakesByNams, created a collection of Strawberry Shortcake-themed cakes. Namayah also crafted a special burn cake to reveal the 45th-anniversary logo on Strawberry Shortcake’s social media channels.
Jennifer Mihalovits, founder of Dough & Arrow in Costa Mesa, CA, is offering customers cookies inspired by the popular character.
In addition to the bakers, WildBrain is also creating apparel, collectibles and more to honor Strawberry Shortcake’s anniversary.
