NEW YORK — As temperatures begin their slow climb with summertime’s approach, Levain Bakery is bringing back a  sweet treat apt for the season.

The New York-based bakery brand announced the return of cookies à la mode and new menu pairings where customers can combine its signature cookies with scoops of ice cream.

To achieve this expanded limited-time menu, Levain teamed up with six local ice cream makers across its markets. Together, the ice cream brands and bakery will create rotating flavors throughout the summer that nod to regional preferences.

“Cookies and ice cream are the perfect combination, and this summer we’re taking it to the next level,” said John Maguire, CEO of Levain Bakery. “We’re rooted in every city we call home, and partnering with local ice cream makers is our way of celebrating that — bringing together the best of each community in every bite. More formats, more flavors and a little taste of each city all summer long.”

The pairs include:

  • New York City and Wainscott: Caffè Panna, a NYC shop known for ultra-premium ingredients and inventive, rotating flavors.
  • Philadelphia: Milk Jawn, a craft ice cream brand made from fresh Pennsylvania dairy, making nostalgic flavors with a twist.
  • Washington, DC and Bethesda: Yala Greek Ice Cream, a Georgetown shop crafting authentic Greek ice cream.
  • Chicago: Pretty Cool Ice Cream, a Chicago business known for nostalgic, handmade novelties.
  • Los Angeles: Sweet Rose Creamery, a from-scratch, seasonal ice cream maker that uses local ingredients.
  • Boston: Honeycomb Creamery, a Cambridge, MA, small-batch ice cream shop using locally sourced milk to create a rotating lineup of classic and creative flavors.

Formats include pairing a warm 6-ounce Levain cookie with a scoop of ice cream as well as “mini” ice cream sandwiches made with smaller versions of the bakery’s cookies. The sweet-treats partnership will be available nationwide while supplies last.
