PETALUMA, CA — Bakers like to come together and share ideas … at networking meetups, bakery tours and events like BagelFest. This year, they have an all-new opportunity to add to their calendars: West Coast Bread Fest.
The all-day event, set for May 2 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., will take place at Central Milling’s Artisan Baking Center in Petaluma, CA. It will begin with a series of classes, including (but not limited to):
– Crust, Crumb, and Craft: Three Paths to Baguette Perfection | Karen Bornarth, director of the Bread Bakers Guild of America
– Seeds, Smoke & Spice: Mediterranean Flatbreads | Robert Jörin, CMB
– Braided & Fragrant: Greek Tsoureki Demo | Kristin Colazas Rodriguez, owner of Colossus Bread
– Dough Triage: Saving the Bake | Baylin Spiedel
In addition to these classes, attendees will have the opportunity to talk shop with fellow bakers and baking enthusiasts, enjoy food and beverages from local vendors, sample fresh-baked breads, participate in the country loaf bake-off and more.
All Bread Fest attendees are invited to enter the contest. To participate, attendees should bring two loaves of their best country-style bread — one whole and one sliced — to the event before noon. The loaves will be judged by a panel of instructors for the Best Bread recognition.
Interested parties can secure a Day Pass now and gain access to additional perks, such as a swag bag and a ticket to the Baker’s Raffle.
