TINLEY PARK, IL — Retail Bakers of America (RBA) is bolstering its staff with the addition of Sophie Boczek as education and events coordinator.

Boczek brings a varied professional background with experience throughout the baking industry. While working in a cottage bakery during its transition to a brick-and-mortar location, she received first-hand insight into bakery operations and small business development.

Throughout her career, Boczek worked as head baker and eventually became operations manager, gaining a wealth of knowledge on project coordination, business management and ingredient sourcing. She also previously worked with women-owned small businesses, helping entrepreneurs secure funding and expand their reach.

“I’m excited to bring my skills to RBA and support our mission to provide valuable educational programs and events for bakers,” Boczek said.

In this role, Boczek will establish RBA as a primary business resource, ensuring that small businesses are offered resources and event opportunities that not only provide value but also assist with profitability. Additionally, she will maintain financial stability throughout all levels of event coordination.

“I want to make sure our events are not only engaging and educational but also financially sustainable, so they contribute positively to our overall health as an organization,” she added.

Another one of Boczek’s priorities will be creating member-centric programming tailored to provide maximum benefits to all members. She plans to survey members and engage directly with their needs and wants regarding resources, events and programming.

“I am thrilled to join RBA and work alongside such talented professionals,” she concluded. “I have immense respect for our members and am excited to contribute to their success by providing valuable resources and impactful events. Together, we can elevate the baking industry and support our community of bakers in achieving their business goals.”

To further RBA’s mission, the association also recently welcomed Kimberly Houston as engagement and events manager. The two positions will continuously support connection and interaction, demonstrating the association’s dedication to its members.
