ST. LOUIS — Panera Brands has appointed Patrick Grismer, Panera Brands board member and chair of the audit and finance committee, to lead independent director. Michael Tattersfield, CEO and president of Krispy Kreme, was also named to the company’s board of directors. The appointments are in anticipation of Panera’s upcoming IPO and follow the additions of Paul Carbone as CFO and José Alberto Dueñas as CEO earlier this year.

“We are thrilled to appoint Pat to lead independent director and welcome Mike to the Panera board of directors as we continue to evolve the company’s business and governance structure in preparation for its important next chapter positioning the company to go public,” Dueñas said. “Both are proven leaders with a strong track record of driving long-term value creation.”

Grismer joined the Panera board in 2022 and brings an assortment of financial experience including nine years as CFO of Starbucks, Hyatt Hotels and Yum! Brands. Tattersfield has served as CEO of the donut brand for seven years and will be appointed chair of the board in January 2024. The pair will oversee the Panera team together.

“We are delighted to welcome Mike to the board and support Pat’s step into the lead independent director role, both of which are another step in our process of assembling a group of world-class industry veterans to oversee and support the next phase of the company’s growth as a public company,” said David Bell, senior partner at JAB Holding Co.
