SEATTLE — Macrina Bakery, an artisan bread provider built around the traditional old-world village bakery, is expanding into the heart of the Mercer Island neighborhood with its seventh location.

The new storefront is the bakery’s first location east of Seattle and is set to open this summer.

“Our mission is to enrich our communities through the joy of artisan baking, and we are excited to open a cafe on Mercer Island,” said Scott France, president and co-owner of Macrina. “This will be our seventh store and a brand-new community for us.”

Macrina is known for its rustic European breads and authentic baked goods, both of which are crafted with regional ingredients and organic grains.

“Over the years, we’ve had many Mercer Island and Eastside residents visit our cafes in Seattle,” France said. “They frequently asked when we might open one closer to them. We’re thrilled to be joining a neighborhood that’s already welcomed us in spirit for years.”

In addition to its baked goods, the new cafe will include full breakfast and lunch menus, with a large patio for customers to dine in.
