ATLANTA — Henri’s Bakery & Deli announced its acquisition of The Grateful Bread Co., a wholesale and retail bakery in Smyrna, GA.

Established in 1999, The Grateful Bread makes artisan breads and pastries for hotels, restaurants and caterers in the Atlanta metro area.

Anthony DiNardo, president of Henri’s Bakery, shared that the acquisition has been in the works for two months. With five Henri’s Bakery locations to date, the deal will allow the bakery to increase its capacity to produce items for its future locations.

“Ultimately, the plan is to bring both production facilities under one roof over the next few years,” he said. “However, this acquisition allows us to continue growing our retail footprint around Atlanta while also getting us into some specialty wholesale business.”

In addition to bolstering production, the deal will also include the reopening of The Grateful Bread’s retail location later this fall.

“We plan to continue operating as The Grateful Bread Company,” DiNardo shared. “We are looking to bring back the local retail market aspect for fresh breads with additional items you may see at Henri’s such as cookies and pastries and some to-go items like chicken salad and pimento cheese.”
