VANCOUVER, BC — Plant-based cinnamon buns have popped up on the menu at Cobs Bread’s retail locations and online.

Available for a limited time this spring, the new item is a variation of the bakery’s classic cinnamon bun. It’s made with plant-based margarine and topped with dairy-free, plant-based cream cheese icing.

“Our customers have been telling us that they want more freshly baked treats that are plant-based,” said Alannah Villella, senior marketing manager of retail and brand experience at Cobs Bread. “We knew we had a winner when we tested and trialed our plant-based cinnamon bun — the customer sentiment was that it still had the same great taste as our classic.”

According to the bakery, sales of the plant-based cinnamon buns were almost 3% of Cobs Bread’s overall sales during the first week of the release. The product is a customer favorite, typically selling out by late afternoon.

To help customers find its plant-based baked goods quickly, Cobs Bread labels products both in-store and online. The bakery also includes a Plant-Based Goodness List on its website.
