MADISON, WI — The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association (IDDBA) is accepting entries for its second annual Cake’d Challenge.
The competition is open to retail cake decorators who work for IDDBA member companies.
“Retail bakery cake decorators create centerpieces for celebrations every day,” said Jack Ince, education coordinator for IDDBA and event organizer for the Cake’d Challenge. “Whether it is a birthday, graduation or just-because celebration, cake decorators take pride in adding that special touch to every cake.”
To enter, retail cake decorators must submit a portfolio featuring four seasonal-themed cakes. The submission should include photos of a birthday or anniversary cake and three themed cakes. One of the four submissions must be a tiered cake.
A panel of experts will select four finalists to compete in person at IDDBA 2024, set for June 9 – 11 in Houston. During the competition, the finalists will create and decorate cakes based on provided guidelines and also participate in a mystery box challenge.
The deadline to submit is Feb. 1.
