PORTLAND, OR — JinJu Patisserie, a multi-time James Beard Award nominee and the 2025 recipient of the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards’ Outstanding Bakery distinction, announced it will close its Portland, OR, location.
Led by Jin Caldwell and Kyurim “Q” Lee, the patisserie was established in 2019 to foster a community bakery where customers could connect while enjoying pastries and desserts.
“We have been so fortunate to accomplish our goals beyond our expectations over the past six years, and now it’s time for a new chapter,” the bakery said via Instagram. “We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and thankful for our team, who cheered us on during both the good times and the challenging ones.”
The bakery, which plans to close Dec. 28, had been searching for a new location.
“We almost signed a seven-year lease on a state-of-the-art facility, but uncertainty around the economy, our health and the steep financial obligations made us reconsider such a significant commitment,” the company said. “We believe that by staying true to our core values, in a city we love so much, we need to remain boutique and flexible. We are passionate about bringing our delicious products to you and controlling the quality of everything we create.”
This isn’t the last of JinJu Patisserie. With the goal of reopening in a new space in the East Portland, OR, area, Caldwell and Lee will share their baked goods at pop-ups and events and hope to continue collaborating with other chefs and bakers.
