ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The Artisan Bakery Expo East (ABEE), set for Oct. 1-2 at the Atlantic City Convention Center, has announced the seminars for this year’s event.

Attendees can choose from eight different seminars on an assortment of subjects to begin both days of the show.

OCT. 1 | 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

Food Safety | Room 313

Charles Niedermyer, baking and confectionary professional and chef instructor at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, will walk guests through the steps of keeping food safety top of mind for bakery operations.

Current Baking Trends | Room 314

In this seminar, Gale Gand, pastry chef and two-time James Beard Award winner, breaks down the latest baking trends to close out 2023 and kick off 2024.

Don’t Yell at My Robot! | Room 315

Mitchie Curran, owner of Mitchies Munchies, returns to ABEE for a seminar designed to teach  small businesses how to embrace digital communication. She will cover topics such as creating informative automatic replies, following up and more.

The Future of Bread | Room 316

Peter Reinhart, author, baking expert and co-founder of PizzaQuest.com, shares his perspective on the direction bread is headed in moving forward.

OCT. 2 | 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

Still Eating with Our Eyes: Growing Your Business Through Video | Room 313

Curran returns for another seminar on Day 2 of ABEE to share tips and tricks for creating eye-catching food videos. She’ll cover relevant apps, how to use food elements for content and review essential equipment to create content that draws in customers.

Understanding Yourself and Your Team Members | Room 314

Todd Keeley, a second-generation baker and educator at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, will explore the difference in personality characteristics and how leaders can utilize this information to increase motivation, engagement and retention.

Working with Vanilla | Room 315

Gand will also return for a second seminar to discuss a bakery staple: vanilla. In this seminar, she will cover how to use vanilla in myriad ways to elevate bakery offerings.

Building a Winning Coffee Program in Your Bakery | Room 316

This seminar will be presented by Jörg Amsler, master pastry chef and owner of Truly Jörg.
